Ukraine Seeks Patriot Manufacturing Amid Rising Russian Missile Attacks
While at the NATO summit in Ankara, President of the US, Donald Trump, offered Ukraine a license for the production of Patriot interceptor missiles to aid Kyiv in dealing with increasingly frequent ballistics missile attacks by Russia. Although Patriots are very efficient weapons, they are extremely costly, have a long lead time for production, and the US does not have sufficient supplies of these as they have used up more than half of their arsenal in the recent war with Iran. Even though President Zelensky has formally requested such production facilities, military experts are skeptical about the safety of producing this advanced weapon within Ukraine amidst all the airstrikes, recommending Europe instead. At the press conference, Trump went on to say that Putin is interested in peace but has failed to arrange for a meeting, which Zelensky declined humorously when asked if he will meet Putin in Moscow.
